Imagine you are Andrew, a high-school student at the Collegiate High School, solving your Math assignment after school. You realize your concepts for Algebra are unclear, and you need urgent assistance for doubt clearing.
You remember that you hesitated to ask your parents for a Tutor this term, as you knew that the budget is tight. As there is not much time to get help from school classes, you decide to look for feasible help elsewhere.
Interviews
We conducted various sets of interviews to understand the struggles our user’s face, when it comes to Math tutoring. Our users highlighted two key points that they couldn’t have access to extra help either because
1) it gets expensive, or
2) they hesitate to ask their parents for help,
It was also brought to attention that not every student is interested in hiring a tutor for the whole term.
Research
Upon research, we found that 263,775 students are seeking additional tutoring help in ONTARIO.
Out of these only 30% are able to get tutoring help.
Proposal
Tutor on Demand is a platform to find high school Math tutors, instantly. Our algorithm matches tutors based on the student’s weaknesses aka areas of help.
T.O.D. provides tutoring confirmation within 12 hours. Sessions can be customized based on your choice of time, location as well as duration.

2) Book sessions for the duration you need
3) Easy confirmation and request at one click
4) Find qualified tutors starting from $25/hour

Student Sign Up Journey
Here is the user Journey while Signing up on Tutor On Demand
- First, the user would sign up on T.O.D via email
- Then, the user would select if they are a Student or Tutor, for this prototype we will be viewing the Student’s journey. It is followed by the user’s strengths and weaknesses, and the distance they are willing to travel
After accepting the terms and conditions,
- The user lands on it’s T.O.D profile to edit bio, and additional personal information like payment Information, review Terms & conditions, or edit strengths/weakness
After the user has successfully saved their profile, they can view their Matched Tutors along with their reviews and ratings.
The user can choose to schedule the tutor of their choice, view their availabilities, and book for the number of hours they want at just one click
- The Users can chat with their tutors for location changes and receive notifications on the app as well
